Southend United have completed the signing of Pat Baldwin from Colchester United. Baldwin, a former Chelsea trainee, has joined the Shrimpers on a free transfer. The 29 year old was frustrated with the lack of opportunities at Colchester, having made only five starts in the current 11/12 season. He has been with the U’s since 2002 and has made over 200 appearances for them in his nearly decade long stay.
Baldwin could make his Southend debut as early as Tuesday when they take on Swindon Town. He is the Shrimpers’ sixth signing of the January 2012 transfer window.
Baldwin previously had a loan spell with Southend in the 2009-10 season.
