Luton Town have announced the shock signing of former Chelsea star Victor Moses on a free transfer. The wing-back was out of contract at Spartak Moscow, and the Hatters, who were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2023/24 season, have brought him back to England.
Moses started his youth career with Crystal Palace and was at Selhurst Park till 2010 before joining Wigan Athletic. He then moved to Chelsea two years later in 2012, but spent a number of seasons out on loan to different clubs. Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham were the domestic teams where he had a loan stint, with Fenerbahce, Inter and Spartak being the overseas ones.
Moses completed a permanent transfer to Spartak in 2021. He originally joined them on a two-year-deal before penning a year’s extension.
The 33-year-old represented England at various youth levels but played for his native Nigeria at senior international level.
Luton have had a tough start to the Championship this season, losing to Burnley, Preston and QPR and drawing 0-0 with Pompey. They’re currently second from bottom in the table with just one point to show for their efforts after four games, and will face Millwall in their first game after the September international break.
