According to reports emerging from Italy, Leicester are interested in bringing Juventus defender Merih Demiral to the King Power Stadium. The youngster joined the Bianconeri from Sassuolo in the summer, but has found playing time hard to come by in Turin.
Demiral has made only two league appearances for Juve all season- the 2-1 win over Hellas Verona back in September and the 3-1 victory over Udinese earlier this month. He also featured in their final Champions League group game against Bayer Leverkusen, although Juve had already qualified for the knockout stages well before their trip to Germany.
Leicester are second in the league behind Liverpool, and boast of the best defence in the league- even better than the Reds and defending champions Man City. The Foxes have conceded only 11 in 17 games so far, but Rodgers is not resting on his laurels and wishes to shore up his back four after the departure of Harry Maguire to Manchester United.
Demiral is one of Rodgers’ targets, and the 21 year old, who clearly wants more playing time, may be enticed by the idea of joining national team mate Caglar Soyuncu in the Midlands. If the Demiral move doesn’t work out, Rodgers may attempt to sign Burnley defender James Tarkowski, for whom they had a bid rejected in the summer.
