Leicester City have completed the signing of young Belgian star Youri Tielemans on loan till the end of the current season. The 21 year old is therefore the Foxes’ only signing of the winter window, with the deal also seeing Portuguese medio Adrien Silva go the other way to Stade Louis II.
Tielemans joined Monaco from Anderlecht in the summer of 2017. The current season hasn’t been the best for him, but the same could be said of other ASM players too, with the club having sacked Thierry Henry in an attempt to preserve their top flight status.
For Adrien Silva, the loan switch reunites the Portuguese star with Leonardo Jardim, his old manager at Sporting Lisbon. Silva joined Leicester in the summer of 2017, but could not play until last year owing to a 14 second delay in processing his deal. He has found game time hard to come by under new manager Claude Puel and has opted for a change in surroundings in order to reinvigorate his career.
Tielemans was part of the Belgium team that finished third at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He could make his Leicester debut as early as this weekend, when the Foxes host Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United at the King Power Stadium.
