Chelsea have officially announced that Tiemoue Bakayoko will leave the club as a free agent at the end of the current season. The medio spent the 22/23 campaign on loan at Milan in Serie A, but only made three appearances for the Rossoneri.
Bakayoko was bought for a whopping £40m by the Blues back in 2017- then the second highest fee they had paid for a player after Fernando Torres. He made 43 appearances across all competitions in the 2017/18 campaign- 29 of them in the Premier League, but never played for Chelsea again.
He was first loaned out to Milan in 2018/19, and then to his former club Monaco in 2019/20. He was reunited with former Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso when Napoli took him on loan in 20/21. The last two seasons were again spent on loan at the San Siro.
Both Monaco and Milan had the option to make Bakayoko’s stay permanent during their respective loan deals, but chose not to exercise it.
Chelsea had a disappointing 22/23 season and will have Mauricio Pochettino in charge for affairs for the upcoming 23/24 campaign.
The 28-year-old Bakayoko has represented France at various youth levels and was capped once by them at senior level back in 2017.
