Reports in today’s papers suggest that Fulham have joined Tottenham in the race to bring Dutch striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy back to the Premier League next season.
With a new regime taking over at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real are reportedly ready to let Van Nistelrooy go for a cheap price. Sources say the transfer fee could be as little as £1.25m.
Real had bought Van Nistelrooy from Manchester United in the summer of 2006 for €18m. However the Oss born striker spent much of last season on the sidelines with an injury, and with age catching up, he could be allowed to leave the Bernabeu.
Here is a look at some other Fulham transfer targets.
Highly rated Boro midfielder Adam Johnson is a target for Roy Hodgson according to the press, and so is Wigan’s Paul Scharner.
Young Swiss striker Seydou Doumbia has also been linked with the Cottagers, and unhappy Manchester City midfielder Gelson Fernandes and Australian defender Matthew Spiranovic are also on Hodgson’s radar.
Van Nistelrooy is guaranteed regular football with both clubs. Fulham are playing in the Europa League after an wonderful season under Hodgson.
