Manchester City’s left back Javier Garrido has agreed terms with Italian side Lazio and will move to the Serie A in a £2.5 million deal. With the arrival of Aleksandr Kolarov and the presence of Wayne Bridge, Garrido became the third choice left back at Eastlands and in all likelihood would not have made the 25- man squad.
Garrido was one of the seven signings made by Sven-Goran Eriksson during his first transfer window as City boss. Garrido is the last of that bunch to leave City. Bianchi, Elano, Giovanni, Petrov, Corluka and Caicedo also failed to cut it with City. Garrido joined City from Real Sociedad in 2007 and scored twice in 49 games. Both goals came from direct free-kicks – one against Liverpool and the other against Wolves.
Meanwhile, City’s former manager Mark Hughes is ready to return to managerial action as he is tipped to be the favourite to fill the vacant managerial post at Fulham.
