Germany international goalkeeper Rene Adler has moved to distanced himself from reports linking him with a move to Premier League Arsenal. The Hamburg number one is believed to be a summer transfer target for Arsene Wenger, as the Frenchman attempts to provide number one Wojciech Szczesny with much needed competition.
Szczesny’s compatriot Lukasz Fabianski has had runs in the Arsenal first team in recent months, but it does not seem that Wenger considers Fabianski good enough to be regular number one at the Emirates.
Adler has enjoyed a decent season in Hamburg and has stated that he would be quite willing to see his contract out, which does not expire until 2017. Wenger could be forced to turn his attention elsewhere for a new keeper.
Elsewhere and Gunners full-back Bacary Sagna’s future has been thrown into doubt by the Frenchman claiming that he is keeping his options open. Sagna will meet with Arsenal officials at the end of the season to discuss his future.
The 30-year-old is said to be attracting the interest of clubs in his home country, with PSG and Monaco believed to be interested in the French international. Sagna will enter the final year of his contract this July and negotiations are yet to take place over a renewal.
