French striker Olivier Giroud has agreed to join Premier League giants Arsenal from July 1, the London outfit have announced. The Gunners revealed that he had put pen to paper a long term contract and the deal only had a few “formal processes” to be ironed out before July 1, when the striker’s contract begins.
The length of the contract and the transfer fee payable by Arsenal to Giroud’s club Montpellier were not revealed. Giroud was an integral part of Montpellier’s Ligue 1 winning side last season and Arsene Wenger expressed delight at the signing, saying he was keen to see the forward in an Arsenal shirt.
Giroud, a part of France’s Euro 2012 squad, joined Montpellier in 2010.
