Greek defender Efstathios Tavlaridis has his sights set on a return to English football. The St Etienne defender becomes a free agent in the summer when his contract at the French club expires. He was previously with Premier League side Arsenal and its believed that there is lots of interest from England’s top flight.
He was at the Gunners for three years but was never able to gain a regular place in the team due to the presence of Martin Keown and Sol Campbell. He moved on to Lille and had three successful years at the French side helping them to qualify for the Champions League. He then moved on to St Etienne and is now looking for a move back to England.
Tavlaridis told skysports: “I have enjoyed my time in France with Lille and St Etienne, but I would like to try my luck again in England,”
“I did not have much of a chance at Arsenal because of the players in front of me and I had to leave. I feel I am a better player now having had the experience of playing in the Champions League for Lille. I am out of contract in June and I would love to have the chance to play in England again. I feel I could do a good job for anyone in the Premier League as I am a stronger and more experienced player.
