Liverpool have today officially confirmed the transfer of Marko Grujic to Portuguese giants Porto. The Serbian international was on loan at the Dragons during the 20/21 season and impressed them enough in his stint for FCP to move for a permanent deal for the 25-year-old. Porto will pay the Reds a fee of £10.5m, with Liverpool also supposed to get 10% of any next sale.
Grujic, interestingly, was Jurgen Klopp’s first signing as Liverpool manager back in 2016 when he moved to Anfield from Red Star Belgrade. However he only managed a total of 16 first team appearances for the Reds in all, and was loaned out to the likes of Cardiff in the Championship (they finished runners-up), Hertha in the Bundesliga and, as mentioned above, Porto in the Primeira Liga last season.
The midfielder was a member of Serbia’s U-20 World Cup winning team back in 2015 and has already been capped 12 times for his country. He was also part of their senior squad at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Grujic managed only one goal during his entire stint at Anfield, and it came in Liverpool’s 7-2 thrashing of Lincoln City in the League Cup last season.
