If reports from the Portuguese press are to be believed, Arsenal are very interested in young FC Porto starlet Fabio Vieira. The Gunners are keen on midfield reinforcements in the winter transfer window, and the 20-year-old Vieira, who has a 30-million-euro release clause in his contract, has been identified as a possible target.
Vieira has been capped by Portugal at various youth levels and was named in the Team of the Tournament at the U19 European Championships in Armenia last year, where Portugal lost to Spain in the final. He has made 12 appearances across all competitions for Porto this season and also netted for them in the Champions League against Olympiakos.
Vieira is contracted to Porto till the summer of 2022. Arsenal are not his only admirers- Ligue 1 outfit Marseille are said to be interested as well, and Porto are also reportedly working on getting him to pen a contract extension.
The 20-year-old normally plays in the centre of the park, but can play on the right wing as well. Arsenal are currently 15th in the league table following a shock 1-0 loss to Burnley at home over the weekend that has seen more criticism levelled at manager Mikel Arteta, and will face Southampton in midweek.
