Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Peruvian starlet Andy Polo, who is being hailed in South America as the next Alexis Sanchez. 16 year old Polo plies his trade for Universitario de Deportes in Peru and is already a first team regular. In fact his performances for Universitario have caught the eye of Peru coach Sergio Makarian, who has already earmarked the teenager as a future player for the national team.
The Gunners only recently snapped up Costa Rican youngster Joel Campbell and wish to add Polo to their list of talented youth players. However they face competition for Polo from Sanchez’s old club Udinese and Spanish outfit Valencia.
Polo top scored for Universitario in the recently concluded U20 Copa Libertadores tournament, which the Peruvian club won by beating Boca in the final.
