According to reports from the French press, Arsenal have emerged as surprise bidders for Ander Herrera, with the Gunners reportedly making a late attempt to prise the Spanish star from under PSG’ s noses.
Herrera’s contract at Old Trafford ends this summer and the 29-year-old is widely expected to cross the Channel and join Paris Saint-Germain. The Spaniard is apparently keen on staying at Old Trafford, but United aren’t prepared to match PSG’s wage offering, which has made an exit very likely.
However, L’Equipe reckon Arsenal could act spoilsport, with Unai Emery looking at Herrera as a potential replacement for the departing Aaron Ramsey, who will join Juventus at the end of the season. Emery managed Paris SG before taking up his coaching contract with the Gunners.
Herrera has made twenty league appearances for United this season, and has two goals and three assists to his name. He joined the Red Devils from La Liga outfit Athletic Bilbao back in 2014.
United are currently 6th in the league and play West Ham at home this weekend. The 29 year old Herrera is currently sidelined through injury and will not feature against Manuel Pellegrini’s men
