West Ham are reportedly interested in bringing Eddie Nketiah to the London Stadium this summer if the striker does not agree on a fresh deal with Arsenal. Nketiah’s contract with the Gunners expires this summer, which means the Hammers could sign him on a free.
The young striker has had more game time with the Gunners in recent months following the winter departure of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona and netted a brace over the weekend as Arsenal beat Leeds United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
However, the 22-year-old reportedly wants more assurances about his game time from Gunners boss Mikel Arteta if he is to put pen to paper a new deal. Game time might not be an issue at West Ham, with David Moyes’ side currently having Michail Antonio as their only fit forward and the Jamaican having constant injury issues that has forced the Hammers into using the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko and Jarrod Bowen upfront as stop-gap arrangements.
West Ham beat Norwich 4-0 over the weekend, a result that has almost virtually guaranteed them European football next season, be it in the form of the Europa League or the Conference League. They could potentially finish as high as sixth if they win their final two games of the season.
