According to reports, West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini will look to make at least three signings in the upcoming winter transfer window as he seeks to ensure a safe mid table finish for the London outfit in the Premier League.
The Hammers had a woeful run of form before managing to halt it with a surprise 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge over the weekend- their first win in over two months. It has bought Pellegrini some more time, but the Chilean has realized that his squad does need some strengthening if they are to display greater consistency.
On Pellegrini’s wishlist is a goalkeeper, striker and midfielder. West Ham have struggled since regular keeper Lukasz Fabianski got injured, with Pellegrini forced to turn to Spaniard Roberto and then veteran David Martin under the sticks.
With Jack Wilshere perennially injured and Manuel Lanzini also in the treatment room, Pellegrini’s midfield options have looked limited this season and he has been forced to play the duo of Mark Noble and Declan Rice in virtually every game.
Upfront, Pellegrini has only one option- Sebastien Haller. Michail Antonio can do a job at a pinch while Alban Ajeti is untested , which explains why this is another area where Pellegrini feels the need to strengthen. The Hammers are reportedly interested in bringing former Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom, currently with PAOK, back to the Premier League
