Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he would have sold Luka Modric to Chelsea if the decision had been solely left on his shoulders. Spurs had a long drawn battle in the summer with Chelsea over Croatian playmaker Modric, with chairman Daniel Levy insisting that the player had to stay at White Hart Lane despite the Blues offering the Lilywhites £40m.
Redknapp had this to say, ” “I have always been brought up to believe that if people did not want to play for your club, then you move them on and bring in somebody who does want to play for you. I was of that opinion in the end.
I thought, OK, fine, if Luka does not want to be here then take the £40 million and we will all move on.”
