One of the longest drawn transfer dramas seems to be drawing to a close after Lille star Eden Hazard revealed that he was signing for Chelsea. The Belgian playmaker made the announcement on social networking site Twitter, tweeting “I’m signing for the champion’s league winner”. Chelsea won the Champions League earlier this month by beating Bayern Munich on penalties.
It is being understood that Chelsea will pay a transfer fee of roughly £35m+ to Lille for Hazard’s services.
Manchester City were seen as frontrunners to sign Hazard but Chelsea have emerged the winners for his signature. The reigning Ligue 1 Player of the season becomes the fourth Belgian to join Chelsea’s side after Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and goalkeeper Thibault Courtois and will reportedly earn around £170,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.
