Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is seriously considering leaving the club in search of first team football if he cannot replace David De Gea as the team’s No.1. Henderson, who wasn’t part of England’s most recent international squad named by Gareth Southgate, has been linked with a switch to Newcastle and will seek a move at the end of the season if the Red Devils are unwilling to let him go midway through the campaign in January.
Henderson has his eyes fixed on making England’s 2022 World Cup squad and the tournament will be held in November-December in Qatar owing to the summer heat in the Middle-East country, which allows him some time at the beginning of the 2022/23 season to regain form and Southgate’s trust.
The 24-year-old recently inked a new contract with the Red Devils in August that ties him to the club till the summer of 2025. However, first team football has been hard to come by- his solitary appearance this season was in their Carabao Cup loss to West Ham United.
Despite United’s inconsistent form, De Gea has remained manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first choice under the sticks for both Premier League and Champions League fixtures.
