Swansea City have signed Icelandic star Gylfi Sigurdsson on loan from Bundesliga outfit TSG 1899 Hoffenheim till the end of the 11/12 season. The move reunites the midfielder with Swans boss Brendan Rodgers, who previously managed him at Reading. It was the nature of his performances with the Royals that made Hoffenheim splash out £8m in August 2010 ( a club record sale at the time)
At Hoffenheim, Sigurdsson enjoyed his first season and was even named the club’s fans’ player of the year. However the second season didn’t go as well as the first and Hoffenheim boss Holger Stanislawski wants him to rediscover the form that made him such a potent player in England.
