Liverpool are the third English Premier League club to have a bid knocked back for Blackpool skipper Charlie Adam. The two Midlands clubs Aston Villa and Birmigham had earlier inquired about Adam but Blackpool boss Holloway rejected their bids, stating that they were ‘derisory’. Ian Holloway tore into Kenny Dalglish after the Scottish manager made a £4 million bid to sign Adam.
“I do not care if mighty Liverpool have made a bid for my captain and best player Charlie Adam – if they don’t improve it drastically or put a “1” in front of it, then they can go and whistle. They have offered £4m, which I think is a disgrace,” the Blackpool boss said indicating that it would take a bid of around £14 million to prize Adam away from Bloomfield Road.
After playing for Rangers for seven years, Adam switched to Blackpool in 2009 for a then club record fee of £500,000. Since then, he has been pivotal in Blackpool’s progress northwards and has also taken over the captain’s armband. In 61 appearances at Bloomfield Road, Adam has notched up an impressive 19 goals. He has looked at ease in the Premier League and a lot of top Premiership sides would kill to have someone like him in their squad.
