Scottish giants Celtic have agreed to loan out young defender Josh Thompson to League One outfit Chesterfield till the end of the season. Thompson joined Peterborough United earlier this summer but left Posh without making a single appearance at London Road.
The 20 year old Thompson joined Celtic from Stockport County in 2009 for a reported £250,000 fee. The loan stint with Chesterfield is not Thompson’s first in League One- he also spent the 2010/11 season on loan at Rochdale, representing them 14 times.
Thompson has been capped by England at U-19 level. Chesterfield are currently bottom of League One, having collected only 17 points from 26 games so far. Their next league game is against Oldham Athletic.
