Hull City are set to sign former Wigan striker Henri Camara. The 32 year-old left the Latics at the end of last season when his contracted expired. The Senegal international has been training with City during pre-season and even made an appearance in a friendly against Aberdeen.
The former Southampton star is set to hold contract talks with the Tigers with a view to a permanent stay on Humberside. Manager Phil Brown has already completed the signing of USA international striker Jozy Altidore and is also now hoping to convince Camara to sign a permanent deal.
The Tigers boss told the Hull Daily Mail: “I was impressed with certain things that Henri provided,” after his appearance against Aberdeen.
“He’s got something different that we haven’t got and if we can sit down and thrash out a deal, then there’s a possibility he could be a Hull City player.
“I’m sure we’ll do that in the next 48 hours.”
The Hull chief also conceded that he could face a fight to keep hold of centre-back Michael Turner. The former Brentford star impressed last season in the Premier League and Liverpool are believed to be interest in securing his signature.
However Brown had this to say: “I have spoken to Rafa Benitez about Michael, but his assessment and valuation of the boy is well below ours,”
“When one of the top clubs in Europe come calling, a young man’s head can be turned.”
