Rangers have officially completed the signing of midfielder Andy King on loan from Leicester City. The 30 year old has opted for a season long stint at Ibrox after being told by Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers that he was surplus to requirements at the King Power Stadium.
King, a Leicester youth product, has made more than 350 appearances for the Foxes across all competitions. His contract with the Midlands outfit ends next summer.
The Barnstaple born medio has struggled with injuries in recent years and had his most recent loan spell at Derby County cut short after picking up an ankle injury in their game against Forest.
Rangers boss Steven Gerrard said that a move for King was a no-brainer because of the latter’s experience. King was part of Leicester’s Premier League title winning team earlier this decade and has also been capped 50 times by Wales.
Rangers are currently 2nd in the Scottish Premiership after two rounds of action, having won both their fixtures, but are behind defending champions Celtic on goal difference. They also beat Danish side Midtjylland 7-3 on aggregate in the Europa League to book a play-off round clash against Polish outfit Legia Warsaw.
