The agent of in-demand Inter Milan defender Martin Skriniar has stated that Real Madrid are close to reaching an agreement with the Nerazzurri for his client.
Mithat Halis revealed in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS that while Real and Barca were both interested in the centre back’s services, the former had stolen a march over the latter in the race for the Slovakian.
Centre-back Skriniar has been key to Inter’s recent upturn in fortunes and at just 24, has also attracted attention from the likes of Manchester United and Man City.
Real have Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos as their first choice central defensive combination currently, but with the latter already 33, have set about identifying potential replacements, with Skriniar reportedly topping their wishlist.
Halis says his client is valued around 100 million euros. Skriniar joined Inter in the summer of 2017 and penned an extension to his contract in May earlier this year, tying him to the club till 2023.
The former Zilina youth product has already been capped 23 times by Slovakia at senior level, and also represented his country at both U21 and U19 levels.
Skriniar will be next seen in action when his Inter travel to Torino after the international break.
