Inter Milan size up Gourcuff

After Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder ruled out a transfer to Inter Milan, Jose Mourinho has turned his attention to French playmaker Youann Gourcuff. The Nerrazuri are ready to make a bid worth €25 million for the 23 year old French international as they still have not been successful in finding an alternative to Dejan Stankovic for their attacking midfielder slot. The lack of creativity in their squad was pretty evident when they went down 1-2 against Lazio in the Italian Super Cup and Gourcuff would be an ideal signing.

Gourcuff has the experience of playing in Italy. He spent two seasons at Milan making 36 appearances but scoring only once. He returned to Bordeaux last season and was voted the French League’s Player of the Season.

Bordeaux president Jean Luis Triaud rejected the possibility of Gourcuff moving to Italy but Inter are hoping that a sizeable offer would change their minds.

“The lad will not move,” was his brief statement quoted by fcinternews.it.

Gourcuff has already made a scintillating start to the season scoring a brace in their first League game against RC Lens.
