Ipswich manager Roy Keane has made his third signing of the summer at Portman Road, and this time it is Manchester United youngster Lee Martin. The 22 year old has put pen to paper a four year contract, but details about the transfer fee paid by Town were not revealed.
Martin started his career as a trainee with Wimbledon, and was snapped up by Manchester United in December 2003. In January 2006, he was loaned out to Royal Antwerp till the end of the season. He impressed in Manchester United’s pre season tour of South Africa, and thus earned himself a loan move to Scottish giants Rangers. Further loan spells at Stoke City, Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest followed. He started his first league game for United in the final game of the season against Hull City.
Martin can play both as a winger and a striker. Damien Delaney and Troy Brown are the other two Ipswich summer signings so far.
