Jackson happy at Gillingham despite Premier League interest

Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson has revealed that he is happy to remain at the Kent club. There is thought to be heavy interest in the Canadian international from Premier League clubs Wolves and Aston Villa. Other clubs could also show their interest when the transfer window opens in January.

Jackson told the media: “I’ve got another year with the club after this season and I would be more than happy to fulfil that,”

“I’ve felt like I have improved since I joined the club and I just want to continue doing that. I’m just going to keep working hard and hopefully we can get the points that we need in the next couple of weeks and whatever happens in January happens.”

Gillingham and their boss Mark Stimson think highly of the 22 year-old and its believed that they will only part with the striker if they receive a seven figure sum.

Jackson also revealed he is committed to the clubs cause saying: “Sometimes the stories do get to you a little, especially at this time of year, with January just around the corner, but I know that we’ve got some big games coming up in the next couple of weeks and we don’t want to get dragged into the battle that is going on below us.

“I’m just going to get my head down, as I always have done, and see what happens.”
