2010 has been a spectacular year for Jay Bothroyd. He earned his first England cap when he came on as a substitute against France in an international friendly, while his exploits on the field for Championship side Cardiff City have made him a target of a host of Premier League clubs.
Cardiff are close to sealing a £1 million deal for Everton striker James Vaughn, paving the way for the 28-year old Bothroyd to move to a Premier League club. Having scored 13 goals in 17 games this season, Bothroyd is in good scoring form and a lot of mid-table Premier League teams are expected to battle for his signature. Cardiff are expected to ask £2 million for Bothroyd, who they signed in 2008 for £350,000.
Fulham are said to be in pole position for his signature. Alex Mcleish’s Bimingham City have also shown interest. And if reports are to be believed, there is an ‘outside chance’ for him to rejoin his former club – Arsenal.
Bothroyd has previously played in the Premier League for Blackburn and Stoke without really creating much of an impact. But with his star on the rise, Bothroyd could just be third-time lucky!
