Olympique Lyon club president has left the door open for Karim Benzema to leave the Rhone Valley outfit, saying that the striker was not “untransferable”.
Manchester United have been known admirers of Benzema in the last two seasons, and may be tempted to put in a £25m bid for the highly rated young French international.
Barcelona and Juventus have also shown interest in Benzema, who is, without a doubt, Lyon’s biggest player currently. OL’s stronghold on the French Ligue 1 title was broken by Bordeaux, with bitter rivals Marseille finishing second. Lyon finished third, but still managed to pick up a place in next season’s Champions League.
Benzema said that he is happy to stay at Stade Gerland for the time being, and will not hand in a transfer request by himself.
The striker said,”If there is a huge offer and the chairman tells me I have to go, I would probably leave. But I will not go and see him to ask to leave”
Aulas has said that he would not like to see Benzema go, but if a good offer came in, Lyon would not stand in Benzema’s way.
In other Lyon transfer news, the French giants have been linked in the media with a move for former Arsenal players Aliaksandr Hleb and Patrick Vieira. Porto left back Aly Cissokho is also on their radar, and so are Argentine striker Lisandro Lopez and Turkish youngster Mevlut Erdinc.
