There is a lot of speculation regarding Milan Jovanovic’s future. It had been widely reported that the Serbian international who plays for Standard Liege had signed a pre-contract with Liverpool and would join the Merseyside club in the summer. But his agent Zoran Stojadinovic refuted those claims and suggested that many other European clubs were interested in his signature.
The stumbling block for his move to Liverpool is the uncertain future of current gaffer Rafa Benitez. Last week Benitez spoke of being “proud” to be linked with the job at Juventus. With Fiorentina and Valencia also vying to sign the strong striker, the move to Anfield is looking less likely.
Milan Jovanović has an amazing goal scoring record for Standard Liege having scored 52 times in 109 games – almost one goal every two games. He has also netted nine times in 23 appearances for Serbia and will lead Serbia’s charge for qualification from the group stages in South Africa. Jovanovic can also play on the left wing if needed.
Liverpool are also keeping tabs on Olympiakos full back Vasilis Torosidis. The Greek international is already being scouted by a host of teams including Manchester City, Sunderland and Birmingham City.
