Juventus have loaned out promising youngster Mohamed Ihattaren to Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam till the end of the year. The deal also includes an option to purchase, reportedly for around 2 million euros.
The teenager joined Juve from PSV Eindhoven last summer on a four-year deal, and was then immediately loaned out to fellow Serie A outfit Sampdoria. However, he didn’t make an appearance for either side, allegedly due to acclimatization issues, and has opted to return to the country of his birth.
Ihattaren has been capped by the Netherlands at various youth levels and was part of the Dutch U17 squad that won the 2018 European Championships. The move will also re-unite him with U17 team mate Brian Bobbey, who has also joined Ajax on loan from Leipzig in the winter window.
Ihattaren, who is currently in quarantine, will initially join Ajax’s youth squad (Jong Ajax) with a view to building up match fitness. Ajax’s director of football, Marc Overmars, called him “one of the greatest talents in our country” while announcing the transfer.
Ajax currently lead the Dutch Eredivisie with 48 points from 20 games, two ahead of PSV and six ahead of third placed Feyenoord. Juve are fifth in Serie A at the time of writing, eleven points behind league leaders Inter Milan.
