Keith Treacy is very close to a switch to Preston’s local rivals Burnley after the Lancashire outfit accepted an all cash bid from the Clarets for his services. Burnley had made three previous offers for Treacy, all of which were turned down by PNE, but the latest offer was too good to reject and the Lilywhites have now given their neighbours permission to discuss personal terms with the Irish winger.
Treacy did not feature in Preston’s friendly against Wigan Athletic on Sunday night because Burnley asked the Lilywhites not to include him in their squad.
The 22 year old Treacy, who will turn 23 in September, joined Preston from Blackburn Rovers in February 2010.
If the deal does go through, the winger will become Burnley boss Eddie Howe’s first permanent signing of the summer.
