Liverpool’s Greek defender Sotiris Kyrgiakos has joined Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg on a free transfer. The 32 year old centre half has put pen to paper a two year deal at the Volkswagen Arena. Kyrgiakos is no stranger to the Bundesliga, having represented Eintracht Frankfurt between 2006 and 2008.
Kyrgiakos joined Liverpool from AEK Athens in 2009. He has also represented the likes of Panathinaikos, Agios Nikolaos and Glasgow Rangers in his career. He is known for his no-nonsense defending and was once compared to legendary Finn Sami Hyypia by former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.
Kyrgiakos made a total of 30 league appearances for Liverpool over the course of two seasons and netted three times for the Reds.
