Liverpool’s Greek international centre-back Sotirios Kyrgiakos is likely to stay at Anfield for another season. 31 year-old Kyrgiakos arrived at Liverpool back in 2009 on a two-year deal and has fulfilled a clause to extend his contract if he played a certain amount of games.
The extension however does not necessarily mean that Kyrgiakos is in Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish’s first-team plans for the new season. He could still be sold with Liverpool set to strengthen at the back.
Last season Kyrgiakos struggled to secure a first team place and is currently fourth in the pecking order for his position, behind Martin Skrtel, Jamie Carragher and Daniel Agger.
