League One side Leeds United have signed goalkeeper David Martin from Liverpool and experienced Cardiff City full-back Tony Capaldi on loan. Martin has joined Leeds until the New Year and has had a previous month loan stint at Tranmere Rovers. Capaldi had spent four years at Plymouth Argyle before moving to the Welsh.
Leeds boss Simon Grayson is currently struggling to provide cover for first choice number one Casper Ankergren. Reserve keeper Shane Higgs is currently on the injury list. Grayson told the Leeds United official website: “David has plenty of experience for a young goalkeeper and he comes in at important time,”
“It’s a busy period and it’s important we have the goalkeepers here who can step in.”
Grayson also spoke about the signing of Capaldi saying: “Tony is a good experienced left-sided player,”
“He’s a left-back, and with Hughesy picking up an injury on Tuesday, we are a little bit light in that area so Tony gives us a boost. He can also play on the left in midfield so there’s options there.
“Again, he will provide us with some good quality competition at a busy time of the year which is what I was looking for.”
