Manchester City centre-back Joleon Lescott is being linked with a move back to former-club Everton, after the Toffee’s boss David Moyes admitted that he would have no qualms about bringing the defender back to Merseyside, if needed.
Lescott left Goodison Park in a deal worth £23million in acrimonious style in 2009. He enjoyed a solid campaign last season, partnering Vincent Kompany at the heart of the City defence as the Citizens claimed the Premier League title.
However this season he has fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium. He has fallen behind new signing Matija Nastasic in the defensive pecking order at City and has been left out of the City squad completely in recent weeks.
Everton are not blessed with a host of centre-back options, with only Phil Jagielka, Sylvain Distin and Johnny Heitinga available to Moyes. If Everton did make a move for Lescott it’s unlikely that City would recoup much of their outlay.
