Liverpool has finally agreed to sell striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona for a fee thought to be in the region of £75m.
Suarez, who is currently serving a four-month ban for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil, will sign a five-year contract at he Nou Camp.
The Uruguayan international was sensational for Liverpool last season scoring 31 league goals in 33 games, winning the Premier League Golden Boot, ahead of former team mate and strike partner Daniel Sturridge.
This news will surely disappoint many Liverpool fans but the move to Barcelona will take Suarez closer to his wife Sofia’s family.
Suarez said – “I hope you can all understand why I have made this decision,”
“This club (Liverpool) did all they could to get me to stay, but playing and living in Spain, where my wife’s family live, is a lifelong dream and ambition. I believe now the timing is right.”
