According to Sky Sports Liverpool are in talks with Sunderland regarding the £9million transfer of highly rated keeper Simon Mignolet. The 25-year-old has two years remaining on his contract and his agent has stated that he is not interested in signing an extension.
The Belgium international had also been linked with a move to Arsenal, to rival Wojciech Szczesny in-between the sticks, but it now looks like Liverpool are favourites to sign Mignolet.
There is still speculation regarding the future of current Reds number one Pepe Reina, who had been linked with a move to Barcelona. However, Barca’s Victor Valdes has decided to stay with the Catalan giants, despite the fact he was expected to leave this summer.
A player that could be leaving Anfield in the near future is striker Andy Carroll. The big Geordie joined Liverpool in 2011 from Newcastle for £35million, but failed to impress at Anfield and was loaned out to West Ham for the whole of last season.
West Ham has agreed a fee with Liverpool in the region of £15million. According to West Ham boss Sam Allardyce, the striker is set to decide whether he wants to make his loan move a permanent one in the next few days.
