Roy Hodgson is keen to add strikers to his squad in the winter transfer window. The threat of Fernando Torres switching over to Manchester City looms over the Merseyside club. David N’gog also has not been able to establish himself as a clear candidate to lead Liverpool’s lineup, prompting Hodgson to scout for candidates across the continent.
Liverpool have identified Lille’s Ivory Coast stirker Gervinho as a possible candidate, and if sources are to be believed, the Reds will make a bid around £13 million for his services. The player has already been sounded about a possible move to Anfield. With the Reds having an amicable relationship with the French club, they would be in pole position to sign the Ivory Coast star in the event that Arsenal bid for his services as well. Arsene Wenger is also believed to be a big fan of Gervinho.
Liverpool are also exploring the opportunity to bring Djibril Cisse back to the club. The French striker who currently plays for Panathinaikos could well be back for his third spell in the BPL. Cisse has been in good form in Greece scoring 35 times in 39 appearances. Fulham and Aston Villa could compete against Liverpool for his signature.
