Chelsea have opted to loan out young striker Romelu Lukaku to fellow Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion, the Blues have announced. The 19 year old Belgian forward has joined the Baggies for the entire duration of the 2012-13 season. Current West Brom boss Steve Clarke is well known to folks at Stamford Bridge, having previously been an assistant manager with the Blues. Lukaku revealed that both Chelsea gaffer Di Matteo and Clarke played big roles in convincing him to move to the Midlands to get more first team experience under his belt.
Lukaku joined Chelsea from Anderlecht last season as a long term replacement for Didier Drogba but struggled to break into the first team.
Lukaku’s arrival may pave the way for Albion’s Simon Cox to seal his move to Nottingham Forest.
