Olympic Lyon have inched closer to the signing of Lille’s Brazilian left back Michel Bastos. Lille president Michel Seydoux spoke to the media regarding Bastos’ transfer and agreed that a deal for about €18m had been struck and Bastos would be moving to French giants Lyon subject to agreement of personal terms. Later, Lyon general manager Marino Faccoli confirmed the same. “An agreement has been reached between Lyon, Lille, and the player.” he said.
Bastos, who can play either at left back or left midfield joined Lille in 2006 and has scored a phenomenal 25 goals in 97 games for them. He is a dead ball specialist with a thunderous left foot.
“It’s no longer a question of filling in forms. Michel Bastos has a number of things to settle tomorrow with Lille president Michel Seydoux, and he’ll then join us in the evening to undergo a medical. If all goes well, everything will be sealed by Thursday.”, Faccoli said.
After Bastos’ capture, Lyon have turned their attention to Aly Cissokho. Lyon have agreed to pay €15m to Porto for Cissokho’s signature, thus meeting Porto’s asking price. Cissokho had previously failed a medical at AC Milan due to a problem with his teeth that could indicate potential spinal troubles.
