Everton defender Joleon Lescott is a transfer target for Manchester City. According to the Sun, City boss Mark Hughes is set to offer the Toffees £10m for Lescott in the summer window.
Aston Villa and Arsenal have also reportedly shown interest in Lescott, who has been the mainstay of the Toffees backline. Villa boss Martin O’Neill wants to sign a replacement for retiring skipper Martin Laursen, while Arsenal are also looking for a reliable centre half as they seek to mount a fresh challenge next season.
Lescott is a versatile defender who can play both on the left and in the centre. He prefers playing in the centre though, and that will be his position at Eastlands if he does move from Goodison Park as City already have Wayne Bridge at the left.
Everton are already eligible to contest in the playoff round of the newly formed Europa League next season, while City are still in rebuilding mode. The Toffees face Chelsea in the FA Cup final next week.
Everton boss David Moyes, who has done extremely well the squad so far, may be tempted to sell Lescott if a good offer comes in.
