Manchester United have officially completed the signing of midfielder Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich. The Red Devils were looking for midfield reinforcements following the injury to Christian Eriksen against Reading over the weekend, and have landed the 28-year-old Sabitzer on loan till the end of the season. The deal however does not include an option to buy.
United fans will be hoping that Sabitzer has the same impact at Old Trafford that Brazilian star Casemiro has had so far. Sabitzer played for Admira Wacker and Rapid Vienna in his native Austria before moving to RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga in 2014.
He then had a short stint on loan at RB Salzburg before returning to Germany and made over 200 appearances for Leipzig before joining Bayern in the summer of 2021.
United therefore conclude the winter transfer window with only two new arrivals- Dutch forward Wout Weghorst was the other player brought in by manager Erik ten Hag.
Sabitzer could be in line to make his United debut over the weekend against Crystal Palace. The Red Devils are fourth in the Premier League at the time of writing, while Palace are in 12th, with 24 points to show for their efforts after 20 games.
