Roberto Mancini’s reshaping of the Manchester City squad is set to continue with the purchase of Lazio’s Serbian full back Alexandar Kolarov. City seem to have beaten Real Madrid to the signing of Kolarov. Madrid made a £12 million offer to Lazio who valued the player at £22 million. City have reportedly come close to Lazio’s asking price and are set to conclude the deal in the next few days.
Kolarov has played 82 times for Lazio and has scored half a dozen goals. His style of play has often been compared to that of Roberto Carlos. Kolarov is famous for his darting runs down the left flank and has a bullet of a shot on him. At the age of 24, he is one of the brightest young defensive talents in Europe and City boss Roberto Mancini has kept tabs on him since his time with Inter Milan.
With Kolarov’s capture City’s summer spending is to cross the £70 million mark. Manchester City have already signed German defender Jerome Boateng, Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure and Spain winger David Silva.
