Argentina full back Cristian Ansaldi is close to becoming Roberto Mancini’s first signing as Manchester City manager, according to reports in England. The 23-year old, who currently plays for Rubin Kazan in the Russian League has impressed during his appearances in the Champions League. A deal of £6million is being agreed with the Russian club.
Ansaldi is a versatile player who can play with either foot. He shot to fame as part of the Rubin Kazan side that beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp. Ansaldi tackled the threat of Messi really well throughout the game and impressed all. He made his international debut for Russia against Spain in November 2009 but ended up on the losing side. With the Russian season already over, Ansaldi’s move to City looks under no major threat.
Apart from Ansaldi, reports in Italy suggest that City are close to agreeing a six month loan deal for former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira. Mancini is looking to raid his former club for two other players namely – Balotelli and Christian Chivu. Goran Pandev’s completed transfer to Inter Milan has added fuel to the rumours that Balotelli might join Mancini at Manchester City. Ryan Shawcross has also emerged as a surprise name on City’s shopping list.
