If reports are to be believed, young Manchester United star Scott McTominay is set to be loaned out by the club in January. There are no shortage of suitors for the 21 year old in the Championship, with Leeds and Aston Villa both said to be very interested in acquiring his services.
McTominay made 23 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United last season, but has found first team football harder to come by this season. He has started only two Premier League games in the 2018/19 season- one in the loss against West Ham where he was played out of position in central defence, and the other against Newcastle where he was taken off at half time and publicly criticised after the game by manager Jose Mourinho.
Many United fans are of the opinion that McTominay’s development may be better served at a Championship club- especially one that is aiming for promotion. Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds are currently third in the table, two behind leaders Sheffield United, while Villa are 15th in the table and parted company with manager Steve Bruce earlier this month.
The midfielder has been capped by Scotland at international level but did not feature in their most recent games against Israel and Portugal owing to injury.
