OGC Nice have become some of a sanctuary for football players who are looking to revive their career and play another season in a top flight club. All the way from Wesley Sneijder, Dante, Hatem Ben Arfa, Morgan Schneiderlin and Mario Balotelli, many players have decided to join this club, because it offers a calm environment to find the form they once had. This time, OGC Nice are looking to sing Manchester United reject and eternal talent Jesse Lingard, who finds himself far from the first team and will be looking for a transfer this transfer window.
Jesse Lingard was once considered a hot prospect in English football, making his debut under David Moyes back in 2014. He has since established himself as a squad player, never truly making it to the top level. In 2019/2020 season he managed to score only one goal and in the ongoing season he failed to feature even once for his boyhood club, making only three appearances in FA and League cup. Manchester United extended his contract until summer of 2022, keeping a hope they might recoup some funds on his imminent transfer this summer.
Lingard is expected to join on a six months loan deal with an option to buy. This move makes sense for all three parties, as Nice will be getting a player with European pedigree and vast experience, while both Lingard and Manchester are hoping to find the common ground with this transfer. The midfield and attacking options in Manchester are pretty stacked, with no way to break into the first team any time soon.
Nice are currently in the lower part of the table and are aiming to compete for European places this season. The arrival of Jesse Lingard would boost their chances of achieving this feat and Lingard might even hope for a place at the 2021 EURO.
