Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has expressed his desire to sign Inter Milan’s Mario Balotelli. Balotelli thrived under Mancini when the latter was the manager at Inter Milan. The 19-year old striker fell out with Jose Mourinho and got little playing time with the Portugese manager at the helm. Mancini is excited at the prospect of teaming up with Balotelli at City. He has issued a statement indicating that City would be willing to bid for the player provided Inter wanting to let of their asset. “We are always interested in good players,” Mancini told the Italian paper Giornale. “If Inter decide to sell [Balotelli], we will be there.”
Mancini also said that the club were actively trying to push together a deal for Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko. The Bosnian was the highest scorer in the Bundesliga last season and a host of top European clubs are chasing him. New Wolfsburg boss Steve Mclaren would do well to hold on to Dzeko. “Certainly Dzeko is more than just an interest,” Mancini revealed in a recent interview.
With Dzeko and Balotelli adding to the attacking options at City, Craig Bellamy is set to move over to Tottenham in a £6m deal. Everton have also expressed their interest but are struggling to keep up with the player’s wage demands.
