Maxi Rodriguez could be on his way out of Liverpool to re-join his boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys.
Rodriguez came through the youth system at the Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina and the Liverpool winger revealed he had agreed a move in principle.
Rodriguez said: “The president (William Lorenzo) called me and I said ‘yes’,” “It depends on the contract I have in Liverpool. Maybe that can be loosened a little.”
30-year-old Rodriguez joined Liverpool on a free transfer back in January 2010 and signed on a three-and-a-half year contract.
Since Joining Liverpool Rodriguez has struggled to cement a first team spot but finished the 2011 season in rich goalscoring form under Kenny Dalglish. He Scored two late season hat-tricks for the rejuvenated Reds against Fulham and Birmingham City.
